Birdie’s Wings & Bar—The family that 
operates one of the city’s highest-qual-
ity and most popular taquerias got into 
the wings and burgers business recent-
ly with the opening of Birdie’s on SPID, 
just north of Ennis Joslin. Everything 
delicious that can be done with chicken 
is what you’ll find here—big, perfectly 
cooked wings, chicken sandwiches of 
all varieties, tenders, and on salads and 
in quesadillas. The creative selection of 
burgers will impress the most finicky 
food snob, and gourmet sides range 
from sweet potato fries to roasted corn.

Atomic Omelette & Grill—This south 
side favorite has been pleasing the hun-
gry herd of morning and noon diners 
for years, offering a wide and delicious 
variety of pancakes to include Bananas 
Foster, pecan, the old favorites choc-
olate chip and blueberry, and even 
bacon and sausage pancakes! The real 
fancy stuff includes crabcake eggs Ben-
edict, Hawaiian French toast, crawfish 
“eggtoufe,” and the ever-popular Hue-
vos Locos. Wonderful waffles are made 
to order, and the burgers and salads are

Odi’s 
Pizzeria 
Ristorante—What 
started off as a family pizza truck then 
evolved into a small storefront off Sta-
ples Street, is now one of the city’s most 
popular Italian joints at their full service 
restaurant on Wooldridge. Odi’s chef 
owner learned how real Italians make 
pizza—in Italy—and brought their se-
crets here for all of us to enjoy. Ingredi-
ents melted into a bed of fresh mozza-
rella look picked from the garden this 
morning, and dried meats and sausage 
are curated from the best suppliers in

Black Marlin Bar & Grill—Since this 
signature eatery opened at Palmilla 
Beach Resort and Golf in Port A, it has 
maintained a consistently high level of 
culinary excellence and fantastic ser-
vice in one of the Coastal Bend’s most 
inviting settings. From crabcakes to 
fish tacos, and fried shrimp to shrimp 
scampi and shrimp and grits, the sea-
food selections are exceptional. High-
