The film’s opening sequence and entry/exits shots
were filmed at a mobile home park on Wheeler
Ave. (TX-35) in Aransas Pass. The park was staged as
though it was located in Flour Bluff and a few blocks
from the Gulf beach on North Padre Island.
Dockside in Flour Bluff is the longest continually-operating
surf shop in Texas, opened in 1968. In the film, it is owned
by the villain, whose son starts a fight by trashing Binx
Davy’s Honda scooter. Tents erected outside the shop were
burned in the film’s dramatic closing scene.
The classic estate located on the southwest corner of Ocean
Drive and Doddridge served as Lloyd’s house in the movie.
It’s not clear if the iconic scene of Billie’s Jean’s transforma-
tion was filmed at the home, on a Hollywood set, or else-
where. The home has undergone many changes since 1984.
