b'The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail was established by Texas Parks and Wildlife as an easy-to-travel series of stops from the northern-most coastal region near the Louisiana state line, south all the way into the Rio Grande Valley and the border with Mexico. At each location, facilities and markers are in place that give birdwatchers guidance as to which unique species can be found at different times during the year.Official stops #37 through #74 are located in the Texas Coastal Bend, from the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) north of Rockport, to the Padre Island National Seashore (PINS) south of the Corpus Christi city limits in Kleberg County. On the north side of Copano Bay, ANWR is famously the winter home of the largest flock of endangered Whooping Cranes in the U.S. and to-gether with Goose Island State Park, constitute one of the great birding destinations in all of North America. The inshore coastal habitats that run along Aransas and Redfish Bays in Fulton, Rockport and Aransas Pass are home to seven stops on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail and are where a diverse and surprising selection of bird species are regularly spotted, including Humming Birds, Painted Buntings and Hooded Warblers. The Aransas Pass Wet-lands are where seabird and migrating species regularly converge.'
